- There are about 8,500 species of cnidarians alive today.
- Cnidarians are aquatic invertebrates and inhabit all depths.
- Cnidarians posses a gastrovascular cavity. They have only one opening- the mouth. This means that cnidarians obtain materials needed for survival and release waste through the mouth.
- Only one or two cnidarians are harmful to humans.
- Most cnidarians have radial symmetry.
- Some cnidarians do not have any developed organs.
- They don't have brains, but nerve impulses run through their body.
- Cnidarians can either be classified as a polyp (category of sea anemones and coral) or a medusae (category of the jellyfish).
